 07 October 2005 - 12 August 2010

Ernie and I made the trip to Auckland to see a litter of pups, with the idea of bringing one home. This litter were grandkids of my first homebred boy, Ch Fleckwood Azzaro, 'Zar', and we were excited about having the opportunity to choose a boy from this breeding. On the 6-7hr trip home, Neko was as quiet as a mouse and happy to stay in his crate, thank goodness! The start of good things to come maybe?

I showed Neko occasionally as a puppy and junior, liked what I saw, he enjoyed it, but those furnishing were just going to take their time!

Showing was put on hold for a bit due to my accident 18 April 2007 which saw me spend 4mths in hospital and then another 4-5mths in a wheelchair, and then the long haul to learning to walk again.  Ernie's plan was that we were going to enter shows in Auckland in late October 2007 under Gordon Setter Specialty Judge, Marcia Hall-Brown.  I don't know how I did it, but somehow managed to groom and bath 3 Gordons and off we went, with my wheelchair in the back! We didn't do anything as far as Group results were concerned, but ringside in my wheelchair seeing  Kim, Jordyn and Paige with the dogs in the ring, was a very emotional moment and not just for me!!

Kim continued to show Neko from then on until April 2009 when she did damage to her ankle which saw her in plaster and unable to show.   During that time Jordyn O'Neill took over for a while until one weekend, unable to attend a show, her sister Paige filled in.    Paige too did a wonderful job, and being a Junior Handler at the time, it was suggested that Paige use Neko for the Junior Handler Finals at the Nationals Dog Show, October 2009.   And so Paige and Neko became a team.  Together they were a picture, and the compliments continually received from the sideline and the Judges decisions, was conformation that our eyes were true to our thoughts.

Neko had a fantastic short life,  at home, and in the showring.   He was loved to bits, had many friends, and we enjoyed that ride with him.................
